There is a reason Gavin De Graw is not often mentioned in the gossip columns or tabloids: he’s boring, at least by gossip standards. Even the two nightclubs he launched with his brother, Joey — The National Underground, located in Manhattan and Nashville — were started with the intention to give young artists a venue in which to perform.
He is consistently tight lipped when it comes to relationships, leaving his fans to guess when he might be dating someone. However, De Graw’s private life has not always been uneventful.
"Prior to this album I was always so incredibly apprehensive about being in the room with another writer, and this time I was able to get in a room with a guy or two who I already really respected, and it really motivated me.
As a teenager he also played in a local Catskills group called The People's Band with fellow local musicians: Steven Levine on vocals as well as his brother, Joey.
Wanting to take advantage of the break, De Graw called some friends and made plans to meet at his club, The National Underground.“I woke up with a breathing tube down my throat” De Graw said.
“You wake up and they’ve got all the precautionary measures on: breathing tube, neck brace, the whole thing.
He began singing and playing piano at the age of eight.
He has two older siblings, a sister Neeka and a brother, Joey, also a musician.
